Do opportunities keep passing you by despite your trying as hard as you can? Are you sending out the applications, going to the interviews, making the calls, and doing everything you can to get a yes, but it seems to always turn into a no or no response?
It can be so discouraging to people, even making you feel like God is not good or that you are not being used the way He wants. It can leave you feeling like you are not fit for any of the gifts and blessings He has in store for you.
But one thing you must understand is the fact that, many people who are standing where they are today also had doors slammed into their face before.
So, if you feel like things are stagnant and no matter how hard you try, they just don’t change? Or you are just one step away from something amazing happening in your life, but then it just doesn’t come about? This prayer is for you.
These 50 powerful prayers for open doors, for people who feel stuck, as well as those who are just not yet seen for what they could amount to, are here for you. This is a prayer for God to help open up the doors that can’t be opened by ourselves and for Him to create new doors.
“For I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” Revelation 3:8
Your time of doors being shut or slammed in your face is not over yet. Let’s first delve into the reasons why God chooses to do such a thing and how you can pray about it patiently and with wisdom

Does God Sometimes Allows Closed Doors?
Some doors in your life are closed, not because you are unqualified or forgotten, but because they are the wrong doors.God’s mercy redirects you by closing doors to the wrong paths, toxic relationships, and harmful environments.
At the same time, He is preparing the right doors: doors of favour, promotion, provision, and purpose. Revelation 3:7 says Jesus holds “the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth.”
When Jesus opens a door, no person, system, or spiritual force can close it. When He closes one, stop wasting energy trying to force it open. A no from God in one place often means a greater yes somewhere else.
Proverbs 16:9 says:Â “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
You may have a plan, but God’s time is always the best. Learn to allow God to adjust the direction. Follow His direction, follow God’s timing. Because many times, the very things you were disappointed about are the thing God is going to use to turn your life around, a 360 degrees shift.

Not Every Open Door Is From God
Not every open door is from God.
The enemy is strategic. He knows how to package the wrong path in a way that looks right, feels right, and even sounds right. Some doors open wide not to bless you but to pull you off course. This is why discernment is not optional. Opportunity alone is never enough reason to walk through a door.
Before you step through, pause and ask yourself honestly:
Does this line up with what God’s Word says? Would walking through this door require me to compromise my faith or my values? Do I have a genuine, settled peace about it, or am I just excited? What do the mature, trusted believers in my life say about it? Has God confirmed this in more than one way?
A door that cannot hold up under those questions deserves a second look. An open door without confirmation can easily be a trap dressed up as an opportunity. Slow down, pray, listen, and seek wise counsel before you commit to anything.
And when a door closes, do not be too quick to call it a loss.
A closed door does not always mean no. Often it means not yet. God may be redirecting your steps, shielding you from something you cannot see, or simply doing a deeper work in you before He gives you access to what He has planned. Do not grow bitter over a closed door. In many cases, it is not a setback. It is protection. It is preparation. And sometimes, the door that would not open is the greatest blessing God ever gave you, because it pushed you toward the one that was always meant for you.
Waiting on God With Patience
Nobody tells you how much the silence weighs. You prayed, kept preparing and developing yourself for that day, but somehow that day never ends up coming. The waiting season seems to be becoming unbearable, not because you have lost your faith in God, but because it is so hard. The act of waiting itself is quietly reshaping you.
What may appear as stillness to you may not be how God sees it. Waiting on God is never a waste of time, it is always a working time and a forming time. God is working something into you that you could not have gotten if your prayer had been immediately answered.
Psalm 27:14 speaks directly to waiting time and gives us instruction on how to get through it.
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
We are commanded to wait, but there is something else we are commanded. We are told to have good courage. God wants us to hold our ground emotionally and spiritually even if it does not look like God is doing anything.
This kind of courage is not innate, it has to be built, and God is building it in you by giving you this season of waiting. While you are waiting, stay committed to the right things. Learn, serve, do. Be careful to not let envy rob you of your vision and cloud your heart because envy will waste your time and rob you of your peace more efficiently than your waiting season ever could.
God has a promise for your waiting season. In Isaiah 43:19 we see the promise that God has for us during the times we are waiting for him to act.
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
God is saying that he will open up a way in the very midst of your wilderness. He does not need favorable conditions to bring you into the fullness of who he wants you to be, he can open doors in the most desolate of circumstances. All you have to do is be faithful and he will open the door at just the right time.
What Does The Bible Say About Open Doors?!
Revelation 3:8 – “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
God sets open doors before you that no one can close. When He opens, it stays open.
Revelation 3:7 – “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth.”
Jesus holds the keys. What He opens, stays open. What He closes, stays closed. Trust His decisions about doors.
1 Corinthians 16:9 – “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”
Sometimes great doors come with great opposition. Don’t let adversaries convince you the door isn’t real.
Colossians 4:3 – “Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds.”
You can pray for God to open specific doors. Ask Him to create opportunities where none exist.
Acts 14:27 – “And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.”
God opens doors that change entire demographics and generations. Your door might not just be for you.
2 Corinthians 2:12 – “Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord.”
Divine doors open for specific purposes. Look for the purpose in the opportunity.
Isaiah 22:22 – “And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.”
The authority to open and close doors belongs to God. Submit to His authority over your opportunities.
Psalm 24:7 – “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
Sometimes you need to speak to the gates and doors themselves, commanding them to lift up and open.
Matthew 7:7 – “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
Active pursuit is part of door opening. Ask, seek, knock. Take action while you pray.
Proverbs 18:16 – “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”
Your gifts open doors. Develop your talents and they’ll create opportunities.
